Adopt-A-Lot
At no cost to you, the Land Bank is offering a unique opportunity to adopt vacant properties to maintain as your own. The possibilities are endless; whether you adopt the property to grow a vegetable garden, plant trees, make a pocket park or play area for kids, you and your neighbors will benefit!

Parkway Plantings
What a difference a flower can make! To increase the value of your home and neighborhood, the Land Bank is encouraging blocks to beautify the land between your sidewalk and street. Blocks which are able to demonstrate a minimum of 75% resident or owner committment to participation in a parkway planting project, including the willingness to plant the entire parkway, will be eligible for support in the form of plantings, project planning, and coordination of additional labor and resources. Blocks must commit to ongoing parkway maintenance, including weeding.
Side Lot
Homeowners in the City of Kalamazoo with vacant Land Bank property adjacent on either side of their home will be eligible to purchase property for $20 plus minimal administration fees to expand their lot. Applicants that show plans for gardening or other improvements for the property will be given first priority. There are income eligibility requirements for some lots. The Land Bank can provide information on requirements of this program.
